Two US Navy Vessels Collide in Caribbean Sea During Mid-Sea Refuelling

Two U.S. Navy vessels collided while carrying out a refuelling operation at sea, according to the U.S. Southern Command. The incident happened on Wednesday during a routine supply transfer between a guided-missile destroyer, USS Truxtun, and a fast combat support ship, USNS Supply.During the operation, the ships made contact, leaving two people with minor injuries. Officials said both individuals are in stable condition. Despite the collision, the ships were able to continue sailing safely after the incident.The exact location of the accident has not been clearly confirmed, but it occurred in waters near South America, within Southern Command’s area of responsibility. Authorities have not yet explained what caused the collision and stated that an investigation is currently underway.The incident comes at a time when the U.S. has increased its military presence in the Caribbean region as part of efforts to combat drug trafficking and enforce regional security operations.
